Zonta District 13 - Young Women in Public Affairs Award Applications Available

Applications for the 2019 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award are now available from the Zonta International District 13 by contacting: District 13 YWPA Committee Chair Biola Akinde at akinde.zonta@gmail.com.  You can apply for up to 5500 USD from the YWPA

The application form can be found via https://www.zonta.org/Media-News/News-Feed/News-Detail/2019-young-women-in-public-affairs-award-materials-now-available

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the empowerment of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the empowerment of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program looks to the young women of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due to: akinde.zonta@gmail.com by March 15, 2019, or to a local Zonta Club by that same deadline March 15, 2019. Applicants aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region, or who are citizens of a Zonta country at the time of application are eligible to apply. Note that applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district/region where no clubs are located will be eligible for the district/region and international awards. Z and Golden Z club members are also eligible to apply. Classified members and employees of Zonta International and Zonta International Foundation, and their family members, are not eligible to apply for the Awards.

District 13 has 40 Zonta Clubs located in Denmark, Lithuania, Iceland and Norway. A number of clubs have special YWPA Club Awards. The District Award 2019 is 1500 USD, and 10 district winners also get the International Award of 4000 USD.

Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by Zonta International. The Award is funded by voluntary contributions to the Zonta International Foundation YWPA Award Fund.
