Zonta District 13 – Young Women in Public Affairs Award Applications Available

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the empowerment of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the empowerment of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program looks to the young women of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due to: by March 15, 2019, or to a local Zonta Club by that same deadline March 15, 2019. Applicants aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region, or who are citizens of a Zonta country at the time of application are eligible to apply. Note that applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district/region where no clubs are located will be eligible for the district/region and international awards. Z and Golden Z club members are also eligible to apply. Classified members and employees of Zonta International and Zonta International Foundation, and their family members, are not eligible to apply for the Awards.

District 13 has 40 Zonta Clubs located in Denmark, Lithuania, Iceland and Norway. A number of clubs have special YWPA Club Awards. The District Award 2019 is 1500 USD, and 10 district winners also get the International Award of 4000 USD.

Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by Zonta International. The Award is funded by voluntary contributions to the Zonta International Foundation YWPA Award Fund.

The 8th European Interdistrict Zonta Seminar

The 8th European Interdistrict Zonta Seminar will take place in Tartu, Estonia on the 8th-10th of February 2019. Registration for the seminar opens on the 15th of May 2018.

Call to Conference published

More that 140 members of Zonta in District 13 have already registered for the upcoming District Conference in Reykjavík in September. The Call to Conference with preliminary program and information about speakers has been published on the website. Zontians from the district will have the opportunity discuss the work of Zonta, take part in workshops and enjoy each other´s company in the capital of Iceland early this fall.
